André Vroon is an established Wellington based professional photographer specialising in architecture, real estate and interior design imagery. With thousands of residential and commercial properties photographed, André has built a reputation as a dependable and hard working visual artist that consistently delivers outstanding results, no matter how big or small the assignment. He combines his creative talents with excellent technical and post processing skills, giving him complete control from capture to delivery to ensure consistency and quality is maintained throughout.
Prior to devoting his professional life to photographing spaces, photography has very much been a hobby since his early twenties. Drawn by the dramatic and diverse New Zealand landscape, he learned his craft the hard way. Towards the end of the analogue era, he often hauled heavy camera equipment into the wilderness where he spent days on end experimenting with composition and light often drawn to intimate little scenes and abstracts within the surrounding grandeur. He combined his passion for photography with a bit of writing, leading to significant freelance contributions to noteworthy publications such as NZ Wilderness, NZ Adventure, D-Photo, Australian Photography and the Dominion Post. Born and raised in South Africa but calling New Zealand home since 1992, André has returned to the African continent several times, taking up a number of photographic assignments and projects in central and east Africa, both on a voluntary and commissioned basis, most notably for World Vision and the International Rescue Committee. When he's not photographing buildings and spaces, he keeps his creativity sharp by creating abstract and minimalist photographs of the natural and built environment, primarily in black and white.
André has a background in science and engineering and holds a B.Tech (Biotechnology) degree from Massey University (Palmerston North). He has worked in several industries, primarily in water and wastewater treatment. While mostly a self taught photographer, he also has a Diploma in Professional Photography from the Southern Institute of Technology.
